Fir needle oil is extracted through the process of steam distillation from the needles of the silver fir tree, which is native to Europe. It is a large evergreen conifers tree belonging to the family of Pinaceae. Fir oil is enriched with several therapeutic-properties including that of muscle relaxant, anesthetic, expectorant, antiseptic, antioxidant, analgesic and many others. Thus, for a very long time it is being used for relieving cough and for stimulating adrenal glands. It is also extensively used in the aromatherapy and massage for easing inflammation.
