Benzoin Absolute Oil is derived from the fine Benzoin resin by the use of alcohol or solvent extraction method. Benzoin resin is also known as styrax resin. It is a balsamic resin extracted from the bark of different species of trees. It is widely used in medicine, flavoring, perfumes and some kinds of incense. Its resin is a common ingredient in perfumery and incense making because of its vanilla like odor. It is also used in the production of Bakhoor. Benzoin is also known as gum benjamin or gum benzoin, but "gum" is incorrect for it. As benzoin is not a water-soluble polysaccharide.
